The problem in short:
I installed OpenCA 0.9.1-1 and all works fine but of german language settings - the html documents are completely not translated. I checked the "make ca" log and found entries like
+ /usr/bin/perl ../../../common/lib/locale/hxgettext -t -l de_DE ./de_DE/sheets/approved_crrs.html de_DE/sheets/approved_reqs.html ...
I discussed the working of this tool with Michael and he explained to me the strukture of the language coding/translation:
-3. openca.po (this are the language strings; generated out of the source)
-2. openca.mo (will be generated and in OpenCA included)
-1. configure (will be generated out of configure.in; generates at runtime html.in files which represent the local customization)
0. OpenCA is released
1. run of ./configure
2. the strings for translation are somewhat changed and translation don't finds the strings in openca.mo :(
To get a better understanding I looked at openca-html.po and picked a message text from initCA.html:

A closer view showed that there is a error in openca-html.po - a double reference of line 29:

What I don't understand is: I would have expected that we get a mixed translation because
a) the references are mostly valid
b) there are no strings in the po files wich are changed by configure and therefore the valid entries should be translated
Or is there a changement on transition from po to mo files - some sort of "including" something out of the original .in files - which let's the comparision fail with the configure generated html files.
Can somebody (Julio?) get light into the dark? It would be nice for me (and Michael too) to understand this stuff...
