My volume testing has been quite add hoc, but what I am planning to do is publish (on this list) the results of the testing stage by stage (giving details of the equipment used and scripts I had to write to generate the test files). Hopefully this will give you a head start in developing your own test cases.
I have some better idea. We could have a test(ing) section in our website where tests results are published. I think we could also encourage all the people actually willing to test their systems to send in results and/or submit test parameters/environment we can publish on the website.
This is quite an important field and I guess we should share all the results on the website too.
