Hi Listusers,

for some hours now I have some cruel problem with special characters in
usernames. The CA and RA worked very well in our beta test stage. After
deiciding to set it into produktion we completely erased all the mysql
tables of ca and ra, deleted the ca certificate and key, deleted all
certificates in /usr/local/OpenCA/var/crypto/certs, cleaned up
lastImport.txt, deleted chain and cacert.crt in ../chain, deleted the
crls in ../crls, and the cakey in ../keys ans set crlnumber and serial
to 00.

After new initialization of the ca and ra mysql databases and issuing
new ca, camaster and ramaster certificate we produced some requests.
These ones contained special characters from the german character table
(öäü). After signing these certificates on the ca tha dataexport seems
to fail and if I import the data on the ra, I cannot find the
certificates but the archived csr's.

In the ca log I found :

DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Unknown character set: 'ISO-8859-1' at
/usr/modules/perl5/OpenCA/DBI.pm line 2544.

I dont understand this behaviour, cause bevor resetting the ca and ra
this was working very well.

Any ideas, hints, links ?

Greets
