This could be.. I have not tested the implementation on a 64-bit.. I guess you compiled all the openca-tools and the openca-base packages (not using the binaries), right ?
If I set USE_RANDOM_SERIAL to "N" and use incremental (hence small) serials, it seems to work perfectly.
Definitely it is a problem related to a (possible) overflow.. you can also try using the USE_RANDOM_SERIAL "Y" with few bits - e.g., try using RANDOM_SERIAL_SIZE 4 and see what happens... If that is the case, than there's an overflow somewhere.. I hope it is not in the DBI.pm or (worse) in the DBD::MySQL... :D Later, Max
