I wrote that message earlier today, and now I think I remember when I was
receiving the 0x57 error code: after sequence of APDUs sent to the card that
make the card dumb (not answering to any APDUs). 

In this case, it is a quite legitimate return code.

Once again, it was some time ago and I am not quite sure if it was exactly
so; regard this message as nothing more than a suggestion.
