Jim,
Good observation! You are exactly right. What happens is Trident 2+ which
is the old switch that Alpha contributed back in 2014, has the same feature of
Maverick, except it is derived from Tomahawk and is a cost down version of the
chipset. The other reason is the 100G uplink of Trident 2+, though offering
100G, it needs a gearbox to support 25g per lane for the 100G port, resulting
in extra cost. That is why Alpha chooses to contribute this box for the Summit.
Thanks for pointing it out.
Regards,
Robert.

There is something confusing about the specifications for Maverick switches
presented on Monday's call.
The part number in the slide is SNX-61A0-486T
The spec package that matches is
http://files.opencompute.org/oc/public.php?service=files&t=3955ed453343fadeddff758febc6e533
On the page, and throughout the text this is referred to as SNX-60x0-486T
The significant difference is the 2nd character in the center group of four.
The number in the spec is valid, but it belongs to a 2014 product based on the
Trident2.
I suspect that the 61x0 spec was derived from the 60x0 spec and that in the
editing to do the conversion, the part number conversion was not done
consistently.
