Sorry for not including this whole thing, but it is getting sort of long. I
have often wished that the standard autoconf would handle say an
--extra-includes=..... and --extra-libs=..... options. Mainly for the second
point mentioned by Jose, that it gets recorded in config.status. Maybe someone
should write up something fairly generic and submit it to the autoconf gurus,
maybe they will accept it as a standard option, like --prefix is?????
