I guess in the best of all worlds, it should work with *any* autoconf. Does the current version work with the new autoconf, foregoing use of the new built-ins? Is it possible to create a autoconf version-independent configure.in?
If not, or if its really crufty, then I'm with Pete ... got to stay current. Greg
