That syntax was a hack around the fact that python didn’t have inline if
statements at the time we started the project, but it does now:

    ${@‘—with-linker-hash-style=${LINKER_HASH_STYLE}’ if
‘${LINKER_HASH_STYLE}’ else ‘'}
