It all depends if the import is "real time" or delayed for some reasons. 
IMHO for most issues "today" is always the second best option in accounting 
because of the time lag of processing statements. the user must have the choice 
it all depends of the use of the date - 
Example "today" is already in the next fy - reconciled entries would be 
probably marked as open at years end which is wrong if they were paid in the 
last fy. 
I vote for date of real payment. (if I understand things correctly)

Bug description:
Hi,


Doing the following, I get the wrong date into the bank statement line:

Create a supplier invoice (maturity date = 30/01/2010) and pay it through 
payment order.
Goto a bank statement and import the payment order
The date of the line is "today" instead of 30/01/2010

The following patch correct the trouble (which was already reported for the 4.2 
version:(...
