Hi Expert Accounting Group, In a recent conversation with OpenERP(belgium), it was suggested it might be worthwhile to the community to capture some of the success stories associated with the use of analytic accounting from the expert-accounting group. I like to ask the group a few questions that hopefully everyone will share with each other so this topic of actual usage in the field associated with analytic accounting can become better understood.
What are good examples of success stories the group has had with deploying OpenERP's analytic accounting across multiple industries? (type of company, approximate size, location, # of products, # of users, complexity of the organization, # of individuals in the accounting dept, what benefits were they able to achieve and business problems were they able to address) Manufacturing Service Retail Internet Based Companies Associations etc What areas, based on the implementations and usage of the system, have end-customers found lacking in the abilities of analytic accounting? What are examples of the analytic chart of accounts across the various industries that company's have used and companies found successful, and more importantly why did they set them up this way (e.g. to track divisional profitability, product profitability, project profitability, etc). Have there been any examples of using analytic accounting in conjunction with managing a business intelligence cube to drive meaningful business analytics, versus say the standard reports? What additional reports - beyond the base system, addons, and extra-addons have users implemented associated with analytic accounting? What was their purpose?
