Shouldnot we have a concept of payslip type and recurrence linked to payslip batch? Similarly, a "HR journal", a similar concept as journal in accounting would allow to post batches in specific journal with conditions. You could have "Regular pay day journal" and "Bonus journal" and could control the payslip generation at journal level at setup. When payslip is generated, you check journal configuration and setup your controls. I would be interested in what other software do (any HR pro in the audience?) Not for a regular one, but in some cases it may be duplicated. It will depend, IMHO, on a 'payroll type'.
