this report may be linked to lp:1233730 : in that bug report, I insisted on the fact that several 1000s of mail.messages on a procurement order made it impossible to display a record, I also noted that I started having problems with a much lower number of messages. Displaying a record with 100 mail.messages attached takes a significant amount of time, which makes for a bad user experience.
My asking for pagination of messages was postponed to trunk, for which I did not object because of the proposition to significantly reduce the number of messages on procurement orders in 7.0.
