Reading flash from phone inside linux on Z6, how to?

Is there a way to read raw data from the flash (such as the baseband 
software or other pieces not exposed through the filesystem) from linux? 
Would I need to somehow write a kernel module to do it (and then use the 
kernel module exploit to defeat the module hash checks?)
My phone has Telnet and FTP access already going.
