i've got a problem with my a780 (europe version)
i have tried to get the new fso image with kernel 2.6.29 running
but i allways got a kernel panic "Kernel panic - not syncing: No init
found, Try passing init= option to kernel"
This means that the kernel recognizes the rootfs but cannot
find /bin/init. It may be just your CMDLINE which is wrong, or your
rootfs is fucked up.
I've surfed through the fso-image-folders and indeed there is no
/bin/init hm
so i gave up @ 5am and wanted to go to bed and before that i wanted
to start
the old motorola ezx firmware but my phone hangs on start up (hello
moto animation; doesn't run, shows
only the first picture of the animation)
This generally happens because something is wrong with the original
rootfs on flash, but may also happen by a bug on older gen-blob. First
of all update gen-blob, then try restoring your backup again.
hm but i've flashed a backup of the original rootfs hmm maybe it is on
the wrong flash as you said
ok first of all i have to charge my battery ;)
so i reflasht the mtd1 with gen-blob (new version), mtd2 (old
kernel-backup 2.4) and mtd 3 with a backup
of the old rootfs in hope it will solve the problem but it did not hm
Use gen-blob/boot_usb to flash, its faster than mtd, and depending on
the version of the openezx kernel the mtd mapping may be different
(blob2, default), and a mistake may be fatal.
I hope you are using an openezx kernel with the A780_ALTERNATE mapping,
because the mtd devices you reported, and the data you flashed to them
are for this mapping. Otherwise you caused some bad corruption on the
rootfs because you flashed the kernel where the rootfs should be.
for flashing i always used kernel zImage-2.6.23-1-mtd-a780-alternate ...
and cyphs flashtools
could u give a short tutorial for flashing with gen-blob/boot_usb? (only
need the commands (and memadresses where i have) to flash the gen-blob,
old kernel and old root fs)
now i think the battery is @ 20% an i cannot try flashing again...
is it possible to charge the battery with openezx kernel?
can someone help me on the kernel panic? i would use the new fso
image / openmoko if the old one doesn't
run anymore...
Yes, the openezx kernel can charge the battery, you will need a working
rootfs and BP communication. You have to send "AT+USBSTAT=255,1" to the
baseband to enable charging.
You can also use a desktop charger or another phone to charge the
battery in case the remaining power is not enough for you to sort out
the rootfs problems.
never used AT commands... i see there was something missing on my
developer training/education 3 years befor tzzzzz
