Hi, I've worked with various SATA conroller models from Broadcom, 3ware, Areca on Windows and Linux. With Openfiler 2.0 beta I've worked for about 1 month will some of those controllers. All work. Broadcom has some features the others don't have (e.g. RAID-10n). Currently I like Areca most. For Areca controller ARC 1160D you need the RHL Update 2 binary driver (found on driver CD, web) and boot with "linux dd" during setup. Performance and function is great. For huge RAID sets RAID-6 is good. I like very much that the Areca has its own ethernet interface for out-of-band management. The auto-rebuild in RAID-1 mode is also a great feature. hth, Heinrich
