Richard,

I'll probably be totally wrong here but...

I'd guess its possible, but would probably be quite a bit of work, although
the more I think about it...

The general tools and packages used are pretty standard. Apache, NFS, LVM2,
MDADM, Samba, etc. Most if not all of these have been ported to the slug by
someone before. The GUI (as I understand it and after having a poke around)
is mostly PHP based so that *should* be pretty easy to move across as its
not processor specific since its an uncompiled language. The processor is an
ARM/XScale one IIRC. Linux is pretty mature on that and there are plenty of
embedded boxes around with one of those inside, so a big pool of resources
to tap up is available.

Am sure I'm generalising too much, but sounds workable to me. Guess your
best bet (and hence first port of call) would be to grab the openfiler
source and take a look to see what is included. From there you can then
compare against packages that are known to work on the slug and make a
guesstimate at the feasibility of it working, considering the packages that
are known not to work on the slug and your level of competence. (No offence
meant, I'd have absolutely no idea whatsoever of even where to start). Then
its just a case of deciding to give it a go or not...

Good luck :)

Dan
