My understanding is that Openfiler can take all of your storage. What
you are seeing I think are statements for legacy OS's that will not be
able to take over 2TB, like windows in most modes.

Subject: [OF-users] System spec and OF research - 3ware 9650e tyan 2892
16500GB sata drives - 2GB memory

All,
Continuing my OF research, are there any known limittations with
volme sizes or physical disk sizes/numbers? We are reviewing a system
with 16 500GB sata drives, a 3ware 9650E controller card
http://www.3ware.com/products/pdf/9650SE_DS_101106.pdf , and a dual
opteron 270 system with 2gig of memory tyan s2892 MB. I intend on
striping 10 of these drives with raid 10 for VMware and the other 6 with
raid 6 for disk to disk backups, which sould provide around 2.5TB of
storage for use in vmware and 2.5TB for disk to disk backups. I have
read that the card will present 1 2tb disk and one 500GB disk to the OS
in this situation where a single device is over 2TB, and then I will
chop those up into some smaller volumes as needed. Anyone have
experience with a similar set up, any known issues with the raid card or
MB and OF, also any limitations I may hit with the amount of storage I
am looking at? Also how does OF use system memory, will it rely on my
Raid Card cache primariy or do I need to stack in a lot of memroy for
best performace?

Thanks for any advice or related experiences.

-Aaron
