If you are using a new Intel server board, it may require an updated
e1000 driver. What model mainboard are you using? I know older versions
of the e1000 driver didn't work with the newer S5000 line of mainboards
I was working with until a kernel update was released.

The main reason I'm not running openfiler now is lack of driver support.
It's based on a slightly older kernel (early 2.6 release I think) and
rpath doesn't have a whole lot of drivers written for it. Then again, I
was having issues with RAID cards but had no problem with e1000...

You sure it's not supported? Pretty much all the Intel NICS use the
e1000 driver (gbit NICS that is) and I'm sure that's included in the
kernel...

Subject: [OF-users] Nic support

Hi,

We have an openfiler rig that we put together and everything works
except it does not detect the nic. It is an onboard gigabit intel card.

>From what I can tell, I need to create a driver disk for it. I cannot
find any info on creating a custom driver disk. Any chance someone
could show me what to do or at least give me a good inexpensive pci nic
that I can buy for this machine?

Thanks for the help.

Tom
