We are looking to put in a new iscsi SAN based on either Open-E DSS or OpenFiler. We are looking for great performance with HA failover. Is anyone currently running DSS or Openfiler with ESX or XenServer? Any feedback? How is performance and reliability?
Also, 1. How much affect on performance will a faster processor have on an openfiler system, such as a Dual Quad core 2.0Ghz vs. a Dual Quad core 3.0 Ghz? 2. Does Openfiler support Thin Provisioning, ie: the ability to assign virtual sized disks but only allocate what it needs and dynamically increase allocate automatically? 3. Which RAID controllers will your 2.4 version support configuration directly from the gui? 4. Do or will you support either active/active or active/passive clustering ?
