Fernando, This appears to be a download problem rather than a kernel problem - I'm running that kernel (and mininet) on Debian squeeze and it works fine. I'll see what I can do to fix the download issue.
In the mean time, if you have an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS machine or VM, install.sh from the current Mininet 'master' branch should work fine. -Bob p.s.
