Could You place the IP-Phone on same net as Your GK? Just to confirm 
that the problem is on the IP-Phone or not.

Have You look on the re-registration time configured on the IP-Phone? 
Could it be defined to be shorter (say 1 hour or less)?

It sounds like some 'pin-hole' connection is lost due a time-out somewhere.
