Jan, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was able to connect to 
our conference unit from the outside after I set the GKRouted to equal Zero, 
and disabled the Proxy and ProxyForNat by setting those values zero. As soon as 
I did this and restarted the services I was able to register to the GK and 
connect over the Verizon 3G network to our Polycom unit. I discovered this 
after I ran the GateKeeper in direct mode (gnugk - d). In this mode I was able 
to establish a connection remotely so that tipped me off that something wasn't 
configured right in my ini file.

this question really belongs on the Users mailinglist:

Looking at the status port won't give you enough information to debug calls. 
You should enable tracing (-ttttt on the command line) to see why calls fail.

When you ask for help here, we would also need much more information about the 
network configuration and your config file. In general configurations using 
port forwarding are the hardest to get right. Its usually much better to use a 
NAT traversal protocol.
