Some people have mentioned a lack of powerful open-source graphing tools to
complement the statistical packages that are available. There is an
excellent project called "Guppi" that is part of the Gnome work. Here's a

The cool part about Guppi is it's incredible flexibility. It is designed to
be used standalone, or embedded in other applications, or controlled via
Corba (Gnome uses ORBit), or controlled via a scripting language of your
choice.

If you're looking for a graphing/plotting tool, give this one a look. For
those of you interested in cross-platform functionality, the whole Gnome
team is rapidly progressing towards cross-platform versions of the
fundamental Gnome libraries (ie - GLib, GTK, GObject, Bonobo, etc.).
