Hi Joseph,
Sorry to hear that they actually included the word "best" :-(. I suppose from a
marketing stand point "best" is a useful word :-). Of course, what is "best" depends
on the specific locale, patient, time, application, cost, etc.

The OIO Library's product review criteria came from EWeek's product review
methodology. In brief, our quantitative criteria are 1) usability 2) capability 3)
performance 4) interoperability and 5) manageability. These are rated on a visual
analog scale from 0 to 100. In addition, there are 5 qualitative items. You can go to
our site now to actually fill out one of these forms.
Again, I don't think we will ever claim that we know what is "the best" but we may be
able to ascertain the relative strengths and weaknesses of specific
products/projects/approaches.
How far along is the SPIRIT project? There has been no news for a while. Is there a
website online? What are you using for your database and application server (if any)?
If you decide to use Zope, perhaps I could interest you in using the OIO system (if
you need to collect data through the web).
If you do decide to use the OIO system, then your user surveys, rating scales, reports
etc would be plug-and-play between SPIRIT, OIO Library, and all OIO-based clinical and
research servers.
Cheers,
Andrew
