I am pleased to announce that the first GNotary digital notary server has
gone functional. Well, that is , in an early alpha testing stage, wobbly on
the feet, with only partial functionality.

However, what you can do already is:
- download the servers public key
- upload a document
- download the notarized / digitally signed document

Everybody with knowledge enough to compile a simple C++ program is
encouraged
to grab the source at http://gnumed.net/gnotary/alphatest.html

Once you have compiled the client (Instructions in the README) run it and
connect to "gnumed.dhs.org", port 8808.

PLEASE: do not fool around with that server otherwise (that is, no bowsing
etc). Just use it for notary purposes.

Whatever doesn't work or breaks, please report it back to me. Whoever feels
enclined to improve the code, be my guest. Over the weekend, I will add a
lot of comments, some documentation, a proper makefile (with configure etc.)
and the server side source code.

Any volunteers to maintain the web side? Anybody keen on contributing code?

Regards,
Horst
