FUD dissipation is a necessity.
What are the conditions that allow an administrator to apply this Open SOurce
stuff?

They would like to know it is in use in lots of places with good results...
some progress on promulgating those lists, but more needed.

They would like to know that there is reliable support reliably available
HP Linuxcare etc - worth building reosurces on that, maybe even proptotyping
a hub system where purchasers and providers of support to open source OS and
applications could trade.

They would like to know there is a difference between "roll your own"
software by one person and the widespread reuse of components from OS upward
by large numbers of developers and users, and that this is going to persists
depsite commercial attacks.
More work required.

They may then consider the philosophical high ground, but not until they have
their fears and needs assuaged - like Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
