It is very helpful. We can easily add this type of display to OIO software's reports module. Currently, the OIO system displays the following (using your example): ----screen 1 Unique patients: 190 Frequency % of entire cohort Diagnosis=Pneumonia 38 20 Diagnosis=Skin 30 16 Diagnosis=Diarrhea 20 10 Diagnosis=Malaria 12 6 ----end screen 1 To show number of patients with two diagnoses, select the row and column variables for the contingency table (in this case, select pneumonia..malaria for both row and column): ----- screen 2 Contingency table Pneumonia Skin Diarrhea Malaria Diagnosis=Pneumonia 38 12 22 18 Diagnosis=Skin 30 16 4 Diagnosis=Diarrhea 20 20 Diagnosis=Malaria 12 -----end screen 2 > I would appreciate comments I would be happy to discuss further the theoretical advantages and disadvantages of our respective "formats" for reports. However, the real test would be empirical. I could easily implement your format in the OIO system; would you be able to present the alternative display formats to your "target" users and find out their preference?
