Dave, I didn't want to label you ignorant as in fact I have seen you give knowledgeable comments in this thread. As I haven't been involved in large scale system integration I cannot comment on your experience with that.
My point is mainly that while, yes, a HIS *solution* may offer 100k function points this does not a) translate to the GP office or b) mandate that all the 100k function points be implemented at the same time or in the same 'application' for that matter. Hence it seems possible to spread the problem to '1000 apps with 100 function points each'. Each of which is certainly doable much easier than the entire thing. By the UNIX Way I mean building 'little' tools that do one job and do it well and plugging them together.
