OpenID Foundation Directors: This year the Marketing Committee is experimenting with what we’re calling the OpenID Foundation's Social Media Support Program. Our objectives are to increase member outreach, increase participation in work groups and recruit new members. We also are testing a new member benefit by amplifying members’ participation at key identity themed conferences on social media. In so doing our goal is to enhance the value of the Foundation's neutral, authoritative, global brand. We want to allow members to leverage our brand's “halo” effect without compromising our open, technology-neutral and non profit status. We will post a log about it soon.
We are updating the Foundation’s social media presence on Facebook, Linked-in, Twitter, etc. You will be seeing increasing mentions of Work Group meetings, votes, etc. We also want to provide more visibility when Board members and others share their expertise and the work of the Foundation at important industry events. For example, we want to amplify the times when our Chairman, Nat Sakimura, shares the progress of OpenID Foundation Work Groups in other standards development organizations and other international venues. This will help increase international awareness and help coordinate with OpenID Foundation Japan. This is to ask those of you who have had talks accepted at the European Identity Conference<https://www.kuppingercole.com/events/eic2018>, the KNOW Conference<https://www.knowidentityconference.com/>, Identiverse<https://identiverse.com/> and other events to notify us so that we might have our Social Media Support contractor raise awareness of your contributions. Please email me at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> or Michelle Parkes [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> with the information you’d like to share on various social media. This year’s Identiverse Conference will feature many OpenID Foundation members in the standards, international and other tracks. I am on the Identiverse program planning committee and am helping feature key presentations on OpenID Connect Certification, Financial API WG and Open banking, etc. We are hoping to focus the attention of attendees on our progress and avoid overlapping presentations.I am also on the planning committee for this years Federal Identity Forum and other events later in the year. Please contact me with any suggestions. Don Thibeau Executive Director OpenID Foundation
