ENVISAT/MIPAS satellite data, written in Fortran 95,
running unparallelized with 2 to 5 GB RAM for each
process on ~900 cores, with each one producing occasional
high IO bursts over NFS to seven 50-100 TB ZFS fileservers
(500 TB in total), and a couple of pre- and postprocessing
utilities written in IDL, Perl, C, shell scripts. Very
demanding stuff that sometimes drives these systems to
their limits (but they won't fail!).
