Hi,
Just to let you know that after a couple of attempts I have almost
completed a successful ./configure
It appears that VLC has some more dependencies which appear to be
omitted from the Videolan required dependencies.
VLC is requiring XCB which is an XLib replacement which in turn is
dependant on pthread-stubs xau >= 0.99.2.
I will build xau and xcb and see if that is enough.
