hello alexander...as is my hobby to dig around and customize my OI hipster, i
felt i ll set publisher to hipster-encumbered and opescww for your guidelines
on totem / mplayer / movie player
1. i was not able to play video in vlc as it returened with some plugins are
missing, nothing i can do !2. when i try installing mplayer i get this...

P S : i ve no issues as of now coz i already am running totem with plugins
[installed from pkgsrc, joyent] only glitch is itotem works with esd and ive
forced esd to use /dev/dsp that points to pulse audio / audiohd#1
so volume levels in totem is low [so i need to keep master @ 100%] and other
audio progs blare !

Hi I'm looging for some help over sendmail writing to syslog.
I am using oi a9 on a couple of our servers, and they are running sendmail,
using almost the same main.mc compiled from the original servers.
They are all logging to syslog, but on the original servers I get the
"from=" headers and the "to=" headers logged in syslog, and on the new
server I only get "to=" logged to syslog, and then only when the email is
being forwarded to the smart-host, not on receipt.
We grep the syslog to see if an email has been received, before it goes
through our mail scanner system, and the lack of a from makes this
impossible.
has anyone else come across this, or any solution/suggestion on how to get
it to work?

1. after a lot of jugglery i was atlast able to play mp3 files using xmms as
well as beep media player clash of plugins n that i installed using pkgin from
joyent source. [here i did not have any plugins clash or plugins not available
/ loaded]
2. after todays update, i felt mplayer should work but alas, libx....so.125 was
needed where as the system was having libx...so.140. i felt if the system was
updated to *so..140, relative apps that ?needed may have been made compatible.
i am sure it will be solved and OI will truly become a rugged desktop on par
with its BSD cousins..!
3. wifi usb adapter. i have WUSB54GCv3,0 cicso-linksys usb adapter which shows
up in device driver utility as a usb_mid device. i am trying to learn to use
nwamcfg to make this work but i am unsure of using the dev [should it be urtwn0
ot ral0?]

3) if you want to find all the interfaces in your machine you can use the
"dladm show-link" command, which will show you all the physical and virtual
interfaces.
After you find out your interfaces, which only work if you have a working
driver, nwam will work well for you.

Hello.
Old http://pkg.openindiana.org/sfe/ and
http://pkg.openindiana.org/sfe-encumbered/ repositories were
unmaintained for some time. For OI Hipster we are working on
http://pkg.openindiana.org/hipster-encumbered/ repository with
multimedia codecs. But it's still in its early stages. During transition
some old SFE components can be broken, as we add newer libraries to
/hipster-2015 and /hipster-encumbered.
What exact libraries were missing for mplayer?
