This printer needs a proprietary plugin in hplip (called hpcups), which can only be downloaded from the HP website while installing the printer in cups. On Linux you have to install hplip, then start hp-gui to download the plugin, then you can start hp-setup. The Linux hplip I use is 3.14.10. The hplip (3.5.17) from OpenIndiana Hipster does not have the hp-gui function, so I could not trigger the downloading of the plugin. When you recompiled hplip, did you get hp-gui ? Now, I have no idea whether the plugin is system agnostic or compiled by HP for OpenIndiana. If neither there is no much hope. Jean-Pierre SUB : HPLIP3.15.9 @ Jean Pierre I could not install hplip at all.... i get dependency probs in various packages ranging from avahi-utils thru....etc etc... finally, i noticed hplip [older version] is installed on my hipster which i initiate thru terminal. but it halts @ hp-plugin install. hp-gui will get compliled if initiated with python support. after unzipping the tarbal, i cannot go to configure unless all dependancies are installed. freebsd has this version of hplip [building from hplip source] same way i could set my printer right from elementary [even though the OS was not listed] illumos needs a package which will be a boon if available from pkg with hp-setup command triggering the gui setup wizard ------------------------------ Subject: Digest Footer _______________________________________________ openindiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss ------------------------------ End of openindiana-discuss Digest, Vol 63, Issue 12 *************************************************** _______________________________________________ openindiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
