Hi, OK, a DP to HDMI2.0 active adapter together with a high-speed HDMI-cable did the trick. Now I have 4K in 50Hz which is more than enough for my needs.
This is the adapter I got: https://www.club-3d.com/en/detail/2366/displayportt-1.2-to-hdmit-2.0-uhd-active-adapter/ Works perfectly. Thanks for all your input. /tony bscuk2 wrote: > Hi, > > I am running a Samsung 43 ultrawide on a EVGA GTX1060 on driver 396.24. > Works fine on the display port 120 refresh rate. > > Robert > > > On 24/09/2020 11:32, Tony Brian Albers wrote: >> Hi guys, >> >> So, I've got the mentioned graphics card in my workstation. >> >> Does anyone know how to get it to work with a 4K monitor? >> >> I've tried using the nvidia-driver that is present in OI202004, 340.108 >> and also the newest, 450.66. >> >> Using nvidia-settings, it's not possible to choose a higher resolution >> than 1920x1080. >> >> Looking at Xorg.0.log, the following seems odd: >> >> -----------------------snip---------------------- >> >> [ 45.181] (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU Quadro K2200 (GM107GL-A) at >> PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0) >> [ 45.181] (--) NVIDIA(0): Memory: 4194304 kBytes >> [ 45.181] (--) NVIDIA(0): VideoBIOS: 82.07.79.00.15 >> [ 45.181] (II) NVIDIA(0): Detected PCI Express Link width: 16X >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): Valid display device(s) on Quadro K2200 at >> PCI:1:0:0 >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): CRT-0 >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-0 >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-1 >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): Philips FTV (DFP-2) (boot, connected) >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-3 >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-4 >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(GPU-0): CRT-0: 400.0 MHz maximum pixel clock >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-0: Internal TMDS >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(GPU-0): DFP-0: 330.0 MHz maximum pixel clock >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-1: Internal TMDS >> >> > >> >[ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(GPU-0): DFP-1: 165.0 MHz maximum pixel clock >> > >> >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): Philips FTV (DFP-2): Internal TMDS >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Philips FTV (DFP-2): 165.0 MHz maximum >> pixel clock >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-3: Internal DisplayPort >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(GPU-0): DFP-3: 960.0 MHz maximum pixel clock >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-4: Internal DisplayPort >> [ 45.184] (--) NVIDIA(GPU-0): DFP-4: 960.0 MHz maximum pixel clock >> [ 45.184] (**) NVIDIA(0): Using HorizSync/VertRefresh ranges from the >> EDID for display >> [ 45.184] (**) NVIDIA(0): device Philips FTV (DFP-2) (Using EDID >> frequencies has >> [ 45.184] (**) NVIDIA(0): been enabled on all display devices.) >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): The EDID for Philips FTV (DFP-2) >> contradicts itself: mode >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): "1920x1080" is specified in the >> EDID; however, the EDID's >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): valid VertRefresh range >> (48.000-62.000 Hz) would exclude >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): this mode's VertRefresh (24.0 Hz); >> ignoring VertRefresh >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): check for mode "1920x1080". >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): The EDID for Philips FTV (DFP-2) >> contradicts itself: mode >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): "1920x1080" is specified in the >> EDID; however, the EDID's >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): valid VertRefresh range >> (48.000-62.000 Hz) would exclude >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): this mode's VertRefresh (30.0 Hz); >> ignoring VertRefresh >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): check for mode "1920x1080". >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): The EDID for Philips FTV (DFP-2) >> contradicts itself: mode >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): "1920x1080" is specified in the >> EDID; however, the EDID's >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): valid VertRefresh range >> (48.000-62.000 Hz) would exclude >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): this mode's VertRefresh (25.0 Hz); >> ignoring VertRefresh >> [ 45.185] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): check for mode "1920x1080". >> [ 45.186] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): The EDID for Philips FTV (DFP-2) >> contradicts itself: mode >> [ 45.186] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): "1600x1200" is specified in the >> EDID; however, the EDID's >> [ 45.186] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): valid HorizSync range >> (15.000-70.000 kHz) would exclude >> [ 45.186] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): this mode's HorizSync (75.0 kHz); >> ignoring HorizSync check >> [ 45.186] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): for mode "1600x1200". >> [ 45.186] (==) NVIDIA(0): >> [ 45.187] (==) NVIDIA(0): No modes were requested; the default mode >> "nvidia-auto-select" >> [ 45.187] (==) NVIDIA(0): will be used as the requested mode. >> [ 45.187] (==) NVIDIA(0): >> [ 45.187] (II) NVIDIA(0): Validated MetaModes: >> [ 45.187] (II) NVIDIA(0): "DFP-2:nvidia-auto-select" >> -----------------------snip---------------------- >> >> See the 165MHz line?
