Hi, I had posted this topic to this list in the summer, although I wasn’t able pursue the suggestions
until now. The problem is that when I include IPMI support into a 2.6.18 kernel
(also the 2.6.17 series), the computer will become unresponsive within two
minutes after booting. Nothing is written to the system logs or the console
when this happens. I have no problems with the 2.6.18 kernel when it is
compiled without IPMI. When I first posted, it was suggested that I try the 2.6.9
kernel, which had been reported to work with IPMI support included on e326m’s.
Unfortunately, there were changes to binutils in the
Fedora Core 5 distribution, which we are using, which cannot compile earlier
kernels, so this is not a practical solution for us. Since I posted this issue, another user has contacted me
with the same problem, so I believe this is not limited to our case. Does anyone have further suggestions on how to resolve this
issue? Thank you, Christopher Rowley Department of Chemistry |
