OK, now THIS is a REALLY weird one...don't know if anyone's ever seen
this.

I'm running some simple test code against one of our new system
configurations, that enumerates the entities, enumerates the sensors in
each entity, and probes the current values (of all threshold sensors,
anyway, as those are the ones I'm interested in).  However, I get
*different* results for the sensors whether I access the BMC via the LAN
interface, or locally with the SMI interface!

The full listing is below, but here's the summary of the differences:
(1) Two fan names are different:
    LAN: "Fan7/CPU1" => SMI: "Fan7"
    LAN: "Fan8/CPU2" => SMI: "Fan8"
(2) The LAN results show an extra sensor: "-12V".  (With what may be a
bogus value of -20.60.)

Also, as you can see, some of the temperature sensors are giving back
obviously broken values (-102.0 degrees Celsius?  I don' theenk so,
Lucy!).  But that's a different issue.

Now, aren't I supposed to get the same values back, no matter which
interface I use to access the BMC?
