Think or Swim desktop application is sensitive to the Java version being used. I tried installing a newer version of Java and the app provided an error message essentially saying, "Think or Swim is not designed to work with this version of Java. If things go bad, you're on your own." The new Java crashed Think or Swim even more.
To gain more stability for Think or Swim I installed an older version of Java: >java -version java version "1.6.0_26" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode) Think or Swim has crashed only once since I downgraded Java. I've contacted Think or Swim technical support regarding this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of OpenJDK, which is subscribed to openjdk-6 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/797802 Title: Think Or Swim crashes after 10-15 minutes Status in “openjdk-6” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Think or Swim is a stock market app provided by TD Ameritrade. Some time around my upgrade to Natty it started terminating. Sometimes when I'm entering data (particularly entering a new stock in the chart window) but sometimes just while it's sitting there ticking along. It does not crash with Sun's Java, but that has sound problems. Ubuntu 11.04 Sometimes it crashes with an error like: # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # # SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00000000d8b4a5e5, pid=28447, tid=139771064071936 # # JRE version: 6.0_22-b22 # Java VM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (20.0-b11 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops) # Derivative: IcedTea6 1.10.1 # Distribution: Ubuntu Natty (development branch), package 6b22-1.10.1-0ubuntu1 # Problematic frame: # C 0x00000000d8b4a5e5 Sometimes it just exits with a "bus error" or "Trace/breakpoint trap" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-6/+bug/797802/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~openjdk Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~openjdk More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
