you can put it there or, even better, use an OpenLayers proxy host. There are python, cgi, & jsp versions of the proxy. proxy.jsp & proxy.cgi are both available from the OpenLayers svn repository. There are also .net versions of this (ESRI has one available for download. lookup arcgis js proxyhost. you would need to edit it to look for and accept the url parameter)

The reasons you need this and more information about using it is available from the openlayers wiki

Hi,

I have gotten my map to display on the default.asp page and am happy with
the map so far. I am having trouble with my server requests.

Do I need to build my page inside Geoserver itself to run my GetFeatureInfo
Requests?

I notice that all of the demo maps within GeoServer are
"http://localhost8080....."; and they all work fine. I built my page inside
my "MyDocuments" using VisualWeb Developer Express 2010.

The map loads and all of the layers display, but the address bar is outside
of the "localhost8080" address, and all of the GetFeatureInfo requests are
being ignored.

Where inside of the GeoServer folders should I build my website?

C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.29\webapps ??

Andy.
