thanks a lot for your contribution! The usual process is to create a ticket on 
http://trac.osgeo.org/openlayers/ and attach the patch there. Patches should 
also have unit tests.

This time I have created the ticket for you and attached the patch:

Let's do the follow-up discussion on that ticket.
