I'm having a problem with markers shifting, as I change zoom levels.

I've done some searching on the web, and have seen a few complaints of similar
problems, but nothing that looked like a solid resolution.

I'm drawing my markers over a KaMap layer, in an EPSG:4326 projection.

Looking at Markers, I'm wondering whether I really understand them.

If I use an offset of 0,0, where is the origin, in the bitmap?

Markers requires lon/lat, rather than map coordinates. Does this mean that the
marker's position is transformed into the current map projection, before it's
drawn? Or that they only work when drawn on maps using lon/lat projections?
If so, which lon/lat projections?

Has the recently-added distinction between map projection and display
projection change things in any way?
