Since Geoext simply specializes an Extjs Panel, I would strongly suggest
that you start with the ExtJS tutorials. Questions about layout etc are
all really ExtJS stuff. ExtJS does indeed have a (very) steep learning
curve (and you probably want to dig in with geoext2 and extjs 4) but it
also has a lot of tutorials and is very well documented. You probably
want to get your head around
the viewport and layout managers first.
