I'm facing a similar problem.
The zoom bar isn't showing anymore.
What google maps API version are you using? V2?

Subject: [OpenLayers-Users] gmap (?) overlaps map
I'm using OL 2.8 in a site and today I found out that every map is not
working properly anymore.
Everything was ok until 2 or 3 days ago.
Everything seems to load properly, I see the navigation controls, the
layer switcher, some vector layer. But when the execution of the scripts
ends, everything disappears, except from the gmaps layer (the default
map layer).
I dragged the map toward the bottom of the screen and when the gmaps
layer is beyond 90° I can see the layer controls and the vector layer.
Any suggestion?
