It seems that surrounding every word with a <span>word</span> fixes the problem, although a bit of a frig, to go with all the other webkit frigs! Would only want to do it if the horizontal alignment is justified. For some reason I lost the right hand side of the words though, but that might be a problem with my theme. If I get opportunity I'll try a push this fix if I figure out the right hand issue, but noting this here in case I decide to take another 2 month holiday before I do :)
