I would like the copyright field to be free format as now. More often as not I copy and paste this as is, I don't want to have to remember to ignore the copyright symbol. Also many of the song importers will bring in a copyright symbol. Also some folk may want the copyright symbol elsewhere in the string e.g they may want: "This song is copyright (c)1995 Fred Bloggs Publishing"
