This is indeed the issue. You should not place files or edit files inside the 
openlp data-folder, or you'll risk data-loss, as you have experienced. Place 
your service.files anywhere else, and you won't have problems.

  Saved Services deleted on opening openlp

Status in OpenLP - Worship Presentation Software:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Each time I save a service and close OpenLP, when I open up OpenLP the
  saved service is nowhere to be found.  I now store copies of the
  service in multiple locations to make sure I have my work saved.  I
  have also lost all my previous services.  The issue may be related to
  me trying to change the location of my services from my images folder
  to the servicemanager folder.

  I am using OpenLP 2.05 Portable on Windows 8.1.
