I started a clean debian 5 server on rackspace and downloaded the script on this wiki page http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/wiki/Automatic_script_installation_for_Debian This worked fine, but then I realized that it's a really old version. I changed the filename in the script to openmeetings_1_6_rc1_r3621.zip and ran it. When I clicked INSTALL, the page takes a very long time to submit, and finally dies after a while.
