Indeed I find this an interesting dichotomy there, putting the acceptable/not acceptable line of making money with free software between single developers and companies. You also seem to assume that there are no single developers who exclusively make closed source apps for a living (like, say, freelancers), vice versa for companies. The first case scenario you are referring to is more like the Sveasoft case with the WRT54G firmwares, not the Trolltech approach we have seen so far.
