I think since android folks need some custom tweaks to the kernel
anyway, it wouldn't be much harm by disabling it. Moreover .31 that
Lars is preparing most probably won't have any android-specific
patches (at least in the beginning).
I have just prepared the android patches for 2.6.31.
I think Michael can give some details on this particular option and
why it might be needed.
The lowmemory killer is basically used on android and it's present in driver/staging/android/ in the mainlike kernel. I don't know why is activate by defualt in your configuration,
but I prepare a couple of patches.
