Hi,

In these weeks I've developed, for my company, a new opennms features:
Virtual Groups.

In simple terms, Virtual Groups allow you to collect data in a "logical" and
"hierarchy" way.

For example, with this feature you can create a Virtual Group named "Office"
with the Virtual Groups "Printers" and "Notebooks" inside.
Inside "Notebooks" you can create the groups "Collaborators Notebooks" and
"Employee Notebooks" and inside each of those groups collect nodes and
services.
If you want, you can create a group named "Web Servers" with all http
services of your farm or you can collect data by logical services for
example "My Site" with the Http Service, the server node and the db service
inside...

I've also created a monitoring page, so you can see if I group is down or up
or see alarms for the various groups.

I've created a (very simple) youtube video to describe this feature
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZpqrm9VqIA

I want to know your opinion about this feature

Thank you very much
Daniele
